Mainstay Lake—This lake is located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam Region of Guyana, near the Atlantic coast, northwest of the mouth of the Essequibo River.
You have to pass the Amerindian reservation named Whyaka to get to Mainstay. Whyaka is a thirteen-square-mile Amerindian community where mostly Arawaks live. Arawaks were the first to inhabit the Mainstay area; they called it ‘Quacabuka,’ meaning ‘in-between.
Lake Mainstay Resort is 12 miles from Capoey Lake and 12 miles from Anna Regina Town. This lake is one of the largest lakes on the Essequibo Coast
