Boerasirie Bridge

Period/Year Built: Mid-20th century

Historical Background / Description:
The remnant of the Boerasirie Railway Bridge is located on the East Bank of Essequibo in the community of Zeelugt. This bridge, which spans the Boerasirie River, was one of many railway bridges built during the period when Guyana’s second railway line from Vreed-en-Hoop to Parika was being developed. It was manufactured in England and is considered a metal girder bridge.
