Hon. Oneidge Walrond is a Member of Parliament and Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce. She was appointed on August 7, 2020, with a wide-ranging portfolio for business matters in Guyana. In addition to responsibility for the development of Guyana\u2019s tourist industry, Minister Walrond has responsibility for regulating and transforming Guyana\u2019s business climate to facilitate the development of internationally competitive business enterprises.

She has policy oversight for a range of entities, including the Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission, the Small Business Bureau, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, and the Guyana Tourism Authority.

Minister Walrond is an attorney-at-law with over two decades of experience, having been called to the bar in 1998. Her legal experience spans both the public and private sectors. In private legal practice, Minister Walrond initially practiced at the criminal bar as a junior associate.

However, early in her career as an attorney, she took up the challenge of an appointment in the judiciary as a magistrate\u2014a position she held for several years. After the better part of a decade in this role, Minister Walrond returned to private practice, specialising in property law and conveyancing.

Minister Walrond\u2019s diverse experience has provided her with a profound understanding of societal challenges faced by the average citizen and has inspired her to be resolute in addressing these issues in pursuit of solutions. Her experience has also given her a deep appreciation of the problems that confront businesses in general and small businesses, especially in the realm of regulatory compliance.

Minister Walrond holds the degree of Bachelor of Laws from the University of Guyana, the Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School, and a Master of Laws from Florida Coastal School of Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Public Works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill (born 25 December 1964) is a Guyanese pastor and politician. He is the founder and presiding bishop of the Zadok Ministers Fellowship. Edghill is also the current Guyanese Minister of Public Works in Guyana.

Edghill was born in Georgetown on 25 December 1964. He attended Hauraruni Full Gospel Missionary Training Centre in 1983 and obtained a diploma in theology in 1986.

Between 2003 and 2011, Edghill was the Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) in Guyana. In 2013, Edghill became a parliamentarian in Guyana and was subsequently appointed Minister in August 2020 by President Irfaan Ali. He's a member of the People's Progressive Party.

Former adviser to President Jagdeo and Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Committee, the Honourable Bishop Juan Edghill, is the current Minister of Public Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Local Government and Regional Development in Guyana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Sonia Parag, born in Suddie, along the lush Essequibo Coast of Guyana, Minister Parag attended Anna Regina Primary School before securing a place at the prestigious Queen's College in Georgetown.

To facilitate accommodation, Ms. Parag opted for the convenience of President's College, where she completed her secondary education. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

In 2020, Parag was appointed Minister of Public Service and subsequently became the first female Minister of Local Government and Regional Development in 2024. She is also a member of several key parliamentary committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Frank Anthony highly successful, results-orientated healthcare executive with a master\u2019s in public health from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and a medical degree from the Russian Friendship University in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Frank Anthony served in various high-level positions in the Ministry of Health, including the post of Executive Director of the Health Sector Development Unit.

His involvement in politics dates back to 1979, starting as a pioneer in the Progressive Organisation of Pioneers and the Progressive Youth Organisation.

Dr. Frank Anthony is the Minister of Health of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and was previously the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport (2006 to 2015). He was involved in HIV work since 2000 and provided strong leadership in the development of Guyana\u2019s HIV program through collaboration with international partners and civil society organisations.

He is currently the Chair of Guyana\u2019s Country Coordinating Mechanism and the Caribbean representative on the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board.

The Hon. Vickram Bharrat, M.P., a native of Berbice, Region Six, brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to his role as Minister of Natural Resources.

A graduate of New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School, Minister Bharrat holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science from the University of Guyana and a master\u2019s degree in business management from the Swiss School of Management in Switzerland. His academic and professional journey has shaped his deep understanding of governance, public management, and strategic leadership.

Minister Bharrat\u2019s career spans over fifteen years as an educator, mentor, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Xenon Academy, a prominent institution providing primary and secondary education in Grove, East Bank Demerara. His hands-on experience as an educator and his ability to connect with and inspire young minds have instilled in him valuable skills, such as patience and active listening\u2014qualities he leverages in his ministerial responsibilities to foster productive stakeholder engagement.

His professional journey began in public service, where he served as a technical officer at both the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Health. He later contributed to sustainable development initiatives as a project manager with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). At the community level, Minister Bharrat demonstrated his commitment to local development as Chairman of the Grove\/Diamond Neighbourhood Democratic Council, where he worked to improve public services and enhance community infrastructure.

Appointed as Minister of Natural Resources on August 6, 2020, and as a Member of Guyana\u2019s Twelfth Parliament on September 1, 2020, Minister Bharrat oversees critical sectors, including forestry, mining, and the burgeoning petroleum industry.

His prior experience as a parliamentarian in the Eleventh Parliament (2016\u20132019) and his long-standing membership in the People\u2019s Progressive Party\/Civic (PPP\/C)\u2014which he joined at age 14 through the Progressive Youth Organisation\u2014reflects his unwavering dedication to national development. Minister Bharrat currently serves as a member of the PPP\u2019s Central and Executive Committees.

Hon. Anand Persaud (born in Guyana) is a Guyanese politician. He is a current Minister of Local Government and Regional Development in Guyana. Persaud was sworn into President Irfaan Ali's cabinet. He was appointed minister in August 2020.

Holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics and a Post-graduate Diploma in Education in Mathematics (Credit) from the University of Guyana. He joined the Department of Economics in 1988 and has served as Head of Department for eleven (11) years. Prior to joining the faculty, he worked with the Ministry of Education as a secondary school teacher at schools along the coast and interior regions of Guyana. Hon. Joseph Hamilton is an information technology specialist and building contractor. He was also a GGG Councillor of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council from 1994-1997, PNCR Region 4 Councillor and Parliamentarian from 1998-2001, and in 2006. Mr. Hamilton now serves as the Minister of Labour.

Mr. Joseph Hamilton is a true son of Guyana\u2019s soil, born on 15 November, 1954, at Betervewagting\/Triumph, East Coast Demerara. Mr. Hamilton was raised by his grandparents and has been married for forty-two (42) years. He is a father of four sons and a grandfather to many. Mr. Joseph Hamilton was a little \u201ccountry boy\u201d with an extraordinary dream to serve his country and started his journey by attending St. Mary\u2019s Primary School and the Muslim College Secondary School.

His dream of serving his country became a reality after he graduated from the Morse School of Business in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, in information technology. Between the years 1990 and 1994, he served as a supervisor and was later elevated to a manager as an IT specialist at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

His desire to serve his country did not end in serving as an IT specialist. In 1998, Hamilton joined the National Assembly as a Member of Parliament, and in 2001 he served as Councillor for the Regional Democratic Council Region #4. During the years 2012-2015, Mr. Hamilton served as a parliamentary secretary. Today, he is once again representing the people as a member of the National Assembly in the capacity of Guyana\u2019s Minister of Labour. Minister Joseph Hamilton is a true stalwart and public servant to the nation of Guyana and lives by the mantra \u201cdon\u2019t complain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
